Recently, I was commissioned by Jenna to paint a portrait of her gorgeous gelding, Tuxedo. A bit of a fun first for me, I got to paint my very first Paint horse and one wearing a fancy western headstall no less! Aptly named, Tuxedo (aka Tux), this handsome Paint sports superb white patches in contrast with his predominantly black coat.
With an amazing shot of Tux taken at sunset in mind, a composition for this portrait was developed. We decided to include the background in the portrait because of its wonderful contrast with Tuxedo's dark coat and because of the warm, reflected light of the sunset on his face. Not to mention the fact that the background was just too picture perfect not to paint.
The result is the above photographed portrait of Tux, gazing toward the setting sun on a beautiful evening. A special keepsake of a treasured moment Jenna will have for years to come.
