There's nothing cuter than taking in a small pony class at a rated horse show. From the impeccable ponies, freshly bathed and braided to look their best, to the precious children sporting their favourite hair bows and best smiles, you'll find a group of very determined tykes (and ponies) strutting their stuff. Zipping around the ring without fear, while braids, bows and legs flap in the wind, these kids know how to get the job done.
With this year's crop of kids racing towards the Royal, I thought it only fitting to add another show pony inspired piece into the mix. Measuring 14" x 18", this portrait was inspired by classic hunter show ponies everywhere. Named after the Kentucky Derby's traditional celebratory beverage, this bay beauty entitled Mint Julep is now available for purchase on Etsy.
In light of the many time-honoured equestrian sports, and in the event you require an adult beverage after witnessing the above mentioned pony kids in action, I'm also sharing a receipe for horse racing's most famous drink.
