This past October, I had the pleasure of painting Harley, an Irish Wolfhound, for Jessica from Ottawa. Commissioned as a Christmas gift for her husband of his beloved dog who sadly passed away from Cancer last year, I was asked to capture Harley's likeness.
True to his breed, this handsome boy was not lacking in the hair department, sporting a long and wiry coat. Kind eyes hidden beneath shaggy eyebrows, tell of this gentle giant's friendly disposition.
Originally used during war to drag men from horses, this breed was also a master hunter of large game animals such as deer, boar and wolves. Despite their distant past, the largest of the sighthounds and the tallest of the dog breeds, the Irish Wolf Hound is an affectionate and sweet dog.
Hopefully this portrait of a much loved dog will inspire memories of happy times with this loving and kind, furry face.
