It’s been a busy fall, to say the least but I’m loving every minute of painting this quarter’s new portraits. From the puppies to the ponies, a good mix of subjects have come across my deck.
In the horse department, I had the pleasure of painting this handsome boy, affectionally known as Alex, recently for Dayle in Encinitas, California.
This classic beauty, braided and groomed for the show ring and decked out in a fancy stitched, leather bridle with matching martingale was simply a joy to create. His alert expression and kind, intelligent eye only add to the piece. Part of me wants to reach out and stroke his face or give his nose a rub and slip him a mint or cookie for being such a sweet boy.
A lovely portrait it’s recipient can treasure for years to come and a well-deserved and fitting gift to commemorate the end of another rewarding show season.
